About Me
Ryan Louie
Founder: RyN Vocals
From hardcore musical theatre enthusiast, to chorister, to A Cappella nerd! Music has been an integral part of my life. I firmly believe that music as a medium can express emotions and stories in a way that no other media can. All of us have our own stories and life experiences. It is my goal to help people find their voices and help them tell their stories through music.
The Beginnings of RyN Vocals: One Voice, One Mic, One Dream.

Even before I started seriously creating music, I've always had a fascination with the human voice. Even as far back as my grade 6 year, I was confused why I could no longer sing the songs played on the radio or why my voice was suddenly so much lower than my peers. Was there something wrong with my voice? Why can't I sing my favourite songs on the radio anymore? These questions marked the beginnings of my music journey.

I started joining my school's musical theatre programs, choirs, anything involving singing, immersing myself in the art form. Turns out my voice wasn't broken, I was just a bass singer, destined to never to sing a melody ever again. Then something magical happened, a vocal group called "Pentatonix," had released a medley of Daft Punk songs. I remember sitting in the choir room with my jaw on the floor, watching that video over and over again. Through my prior musical experiences, I had a very traditional view of choral and vocal music. To see this group take my preconceptions and completely turn them inside out was awe inspiring. Suddenly, being a bass singer was super cool! I knew from that moment on that I wanted to specialize in A Cappella vocal music and learn as much as I could about the capabilities of the human voice.
Fast forward to the present day. I have spent 6 years (and counting) in collegiate A Cappella groups, competed in competitions throughout Canada and in the United States, and have collaborated with hundreds of A Cappella artists on countless projects. Things were great until a little thing came along and shut down all in-person events. Without in-person concerts and collaborations, I felt lost, without purpose.

With everyone locked in their homes, I decided to make the most of it and invested in some recording equipment. I took some online courses and watched YouTube tutorials on how to make music in your basement. A year and a half later, RyN Vocals, a solo A Cappella artist was born!

One Voice, One Mic, and One Dream is the philosophy that drove me to continue doing what I love. The capabilities of the passionate dreamer, much like the human voice, are virtually limitless. We all have unique voices and unique stories to tell. Now, it is my goal to help passionate vocalists, artists, and story tellers find their mic, and express themselves through their voices. A world with more unique sounds and music is a greater world for all.
